On the 2009 Curricula of Philosophy and Aesthetics Courses: The Relation Between Value-Affective Domain Attainment-Values Education
Abstract :
This study aims to examine the curriculum of philosophy and aesthetics courses at secondary education with respect to their relation with value/affective domain attainments and to demonstrate the relation of these courses to values education. For this purpose, the study investigated the attainments of the curriculum of philosophy and aesthetics in secondary education developed in 2009 in the framework of affective domain attainments, which are related with values. It was observed in the study that the curriculum of philosophy included 9 affective attainments and that these attainments are far from providing the attainment of any value. It was also observed that while the curriculum of aesthetics includes some values, it does not provide any affective attainment. In consequence of the study, some solutions were suggested for making these courses more efficient in values education.
