Historical Development of Folktale Researches in Uzbekistan

The first studies related to Uzbek folktales were initiated in the late 19th century and they were progressively increased during subsequent periods. These studies that were carried out irregularly during first period have started being performed systemic and planned manner in the following years. The compilation activities started in the beginning of 20th century have gained pace and continued in the following years. As a result of studies carried out between these years, countless number of folktale texts was compiled. Through publication of compiled folktale texts a corpus of tales was created. After publication of many folktale texts, studies having integrity of book where Uzbek tales were scrutinized have emerged and continued up to day. In those published works, the unique aspects of Uzbek folktales and folktale narrating tradition were analyzed successfully.In this paper prepared to evaluate the process of historical development of Uzbek folktale evaluations, first those studies carried out in Uzbekistan concerning Uzbek folktales were analyzed.
