Abstract :
National holidays that are crucial part of social life, are exceptional days which provide people come together through common values. By the date “29th October” being as Republic Day, it is celebrated in the homeland and overseas agencies. Celebrations are done in an enthusiasm and pleasure together with the whole country. In this study, detailed knowledge is presented dealing with the content of celebrations, celebration programs, activities of the community and preparations of Republic Day in the period from 1929 to 1948. At the material time, for preparation of this study, local newspapers in Nigde, journals, republic day writings in the Prime Minister Republic archives and interviews are utilized.
