Abstract
Cyprus in the 19th century was attractive for many states such as Russia, United Kingdom, France, the United States of America. San Stefano and Berlin treaties signed after Ottoman-Russian War (1877-1878) treated Cyprus as well, since its geographical position made it attractive both to Russia and the United Kingdom. During this period, despite almost all precautions, Ottoman Empire was not enable to prevent social political events, which were mainly a result of different diplomatic treatments and pressure from west coutnries. In these circumsrances, some Christian groups, like Armenians encouraged by some European states displayed destructive activites in various parts of the Ottoman Empire. In this article, we will discus the diplomatic developments and their outcomes related to Cyprus during the period Abdulhamid II.
