Abstract
From the beginning of human history until the present day the society made the division of labor according to the gender and cultural values, social ecceptance and protocols were shaped according to this. While men were undertaking activities related to outside world, women were given the activities in house and the task of organizing family relationships. Women who are a member of society, with a unique creation feature has always been the focus of attention. This important and indispensable existence of society, has constituted one of the main issues in the literature. Women in epics and other folkloric products have been dealt with various aspects. As in the other Turkish epics women have an important place in Shors heroic epics. In this study, the type of woman living in the society of Shors mentioned in the epic of “Ak Kağan” will be studied. Firstly the woman’s location in the Turkish culture will be discussed briefly, after the type of woman in mentioned epic will be studied.
