Sportspersonship Orientations of Basketball and Soccer Players
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to investigate the sportspersonship orientations of basketball and soccer players about some variables. There are 151 basketball and 161 soccer players, in total 312 players whose average age was 22.07, who participated in this study. Participants were 141 women and 171 man athletes and living in Antalya. The Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale (MSOS) and a personal information form were used as the data collection tools. Sport branches and the personal information of the players and their scores, taken from the scale, were compared and the differences have been stated. Descriptions, frequency and Non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test were used in the interpretation of this data. As a result of this research, in the subscale of Respect for rules and management it was found that the average sportspersonship scores of basketball players were significantly higher than the soccer players; in the subscale of Respect for Rules and Management, Respect for Opponent and total score the average sportspersonship scores of 22 and over age were significantly higher than the 21 and under age players. There were no significance between gender and sport age and sportspersonship orientations.
