Abstract :
In 1841, Jerusalem was directly connected to government, being shared governmentally again. Even though the district was connected either to Syria or to Sidon from time to time till 1871, it was directly connected to government again, with province directory. Governor, who was the head administrative chief, was directly assigned by government, with connection of district to government. Some changes occurred in position and authorisation of governors, with their assignment directly by government. Governors of Jerusalem have equal position with proconsuls of states with these changes. In this study focusing on governors, assigned to Jerusalem between 1841 and 1902, short biographies, assignments and deprivations, incomes of governors and, differently from other rulers, their intellectual sides were tried to study. Also, profiles of governors of Jerusalem were tried to put forward, focusing on governors rather than actives they completed or events they had during the period of their duties.
