Abstract :
Pragmatisme and sociology, a monography throughout which Durkheim critically studies the classical pragmatism, is a key work not only for its propositions on the methodology of sociology but equally, for its very subject. Analysis of the conditions of how a relatively prestigeous and productif academic tradition active in the period between 1890 and 1915, i.e, durkheimian sociology, looses its effect on the later generations of researchers as well as the assimilation of sociology in general to a mere data collecting for the administrators, public or private, requires, by the same token, an inquiry on the interferences, political and/or economical, to the academical circles. For that reason, it is crucial to reexamine the critique of the foundator of the French Sociology to pragmatism, in order to analyse sociologically the problematic effects of the circulation of intellectual trends at the international level, on the transformation of higher education systems in a number of countries, just as on the institutionalisation of transnational academic traditions.
