Abstract :
Thisarticle focuseson the problematic of urban conservation in Istanbul. Urban conservation is discussed in the context of sustainability. Firstly, describes conceptual framework and the back ground of the subject. There is studied the city of Vienna in Austria as a successful example of urban conservation practices. There was made a case study density in the area of cultural heritage in Istanbul, These fields included Fatih (historical peninsula), Eyüp, Beyoğlu, Üsküdar Municipalities, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Conservation Region Agency. Finally, evaluates the data obtained from the study and are presented solutions.It is expected to contribute to the original and actual in scientific literatures.
