Comparison of Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverters by SPWM Technique
Abstract :
The multilevel inverters are very popular especially in medium and powerful applications. In this article, a simulation was performed by designing three-level, seven-level and seventeen-level cascade H-bridge inverters. A carrier based Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique was used for switching inverters. Line to line voltages of realized three-level, seven-level and seventeen-level cascade H-bridge inverters were compared. According to the simulation results, harmonic components of line to line voltages of R-L load fed by seventeen-level cascaded H-bridge inverter were found to be lower than that of three-level and seven-level cascaded H-bridge inverter.
