Expanding The Rail Transport Services Of Municipalities: The Case Of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality

Rail services for which substantial investment required can be provided only in cities with a certain population size. However, if a city does not have a sufficient potential for passengers to cover the operating costs, such service may not be offered. In particular, lowering the cost of rail vehicles can lead to applications in less populated cities. The purpose of this study was the investigation of encouraging domestic production, as a tool to reduce rail vehicle costs, and in the context of the relations of municipalities between central government and private sector within the framework of the public economy. For this purpose, the applications and rail transportation services of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality are discussed as examples
