DYSPHONIA FOLLOWING INFERIOR ALVEOLAR NERVE BLOCKAGE: A CASE REPORT
Abstract :
Although it is rare, the serious medical complications during dental practice can be seen. The most frequent complications are usually related to local anesthesia. This article, aimed to present a case of dysphonia and difficulty at swallowing following inferior alveolar nerve blockage and discuss the case by the light of literature. Vocal cord paralysis after inferior alveolar nerve block is an uncommon condition. However, if it occurs the patient should be monitored closely, and the equipment to maintain airway should always be kept ready. Dentist should be awarded that the vocal cord paralysis as a complication of inferior alveolar nerve blockage, which is a rare condition.
