Title Of Article :
Effect of the Heat Threatment Temperature on the Production and Microstructure of the BaTa2O6 Ceramic Synthesized by Mechanochemical Process
Abstract :
BaTa2O6 ceramic was produced by mechanochemical synthesis inusing starting matterials of BaCO3 and Ta2O5. The effect of milling time and heat treatment temperature on BaTa2O6 formation and microstructure was investigated. While BaTa2O6 crystallisation started even after 1h of milling, single phase BaTa2O6 was obtained after 10h of milling. The crystallite size was around 22 nm after 10 of milling and didnot change significantly with increasing milling time. While single phase BaTa2O6 structure was obtained after heat treatment of 1h milled powder at 1200 °C, single phase structure was produced at 900 °C when powder milled for 5h. Although BaTa2O6 grain size at 900 °C was near to the unmilled powder, grain size increased to 220-950 nm at 1100 °C probably due to liquid phase formation. Ba6Fe4Ta12O42 phase started to form at 1100 °C due to iron contamination and increased in amount at 1200 °C. The morpholgoy of Ba6Fe4Ta12O42 grains having longitudinal grain structure was different from BaTa2O6 grains with smaller sizes.
