Abstract :
Ti6Al4V, which is a titanium alloy, can be regarded as the most frequently used biomaterial in the orthopedics. In recent years, Ti6Al4V implant surfaces generally coated with hydroxyapatite in order to take advantage of its excellent biocompatibility and bioactivity properties. In this study, selenium was added into the structure of hydroxyapatite and coated on Ti6Al4V plate surfaces by using the biomimetic method. The coatings were obtained by preparing 1,5 times more concentrated simulated body fluid (1.5xSBF) in the normal composition and selenate ion added composition and immersing the plates in both of these SBFs, which were kept at 37°C. The SBFs were refreshed every 2 days and the samples were collected in the 4, 7, 10, 14 and 21 days of immersion. Before coating, the plates were alkali and heat treated to increase the roughness and gain oxide structure. In the SEM analysis, it was observed that the nucleation occurs at the 4th day of immersion and the entire surface was coated with apatite in a rough global structure after 10 days of immersion.
