Title Of Article :
Several Methods to Separate Anode and Cathode Chambers in Microbial Fuel Cells
Abstract :
Application of salt bridges, proton exchange membranes, cation exchange membranes as well as bipolar membranes are used in many studies to seperate anodic and cathodic chambers of Microbial Fuel Cells. Among those methods proton exchange membrane is the most common used tool due to its well known application. To remove some specific pollutants in cathodic chamber, bipolar membranes, cation exchange membranes are used to provide a desired environmental conditions. Salt bridges are the best separation methods when considered for cost, however their efficiency is low due to their high internal resistance. This study is summarizes the tools used to seperate this two chambers. Advantages disadvantages and application areas are compared.
