Abstract :
Premature and/or problematic babies cannot keep the body temperature at the required level andstable. Therefore, they should be kept in a sterile environment at a constant temperature, the humidity at a certain rate, fresh air from an antibacterial free filter, a silence that would not divide their sleep. They also need doctor s supervision, and nursing care. For these reason, incubators have been produced with transparent cover part and the body part consisting of incubator heating, ventilation and humidification all controlled by the microcontroller. The controls of the incubator used in today s hospitals newborns are served by nurses. Therefore, the premature babies live, which are on very critical balances, strongly depends on the attention of the nurse. Today, very limited number of incubator with remote control function are being used in the hospitals. Such incubators are also having some other capabilities including archiving of baby’s parameters. On the other hand, the health professionals are not get used to work with these type of incubators which can monitor the physiological data. In this article, we investigate the necessary modifications to the incubators already being used in the neonatal care units. As a result, both a reduction of neonatal mortality will be achieved by increasing the useable function of the existing incubators and a domestic alternative will be obtained as a model to national entrepreneurs in the biomedical market.
