شماره ركورد :

Abstract :
In Turkey the implementation of European Qualifications Framework guidelines for Life Long Learning was initiated in January 2013. Based on this system, the Turkish document “National Standards for Professional Translators and Interpreters” was drafted with the participation of relevant stakeholders. This professional standard will form the basis of the Qualifications to be drafted in the future. The drafting of the Standard is a significant milestone on the path to the professionalization and institutionalization of the profession; however there is a number of factors, which need to be considered meticulously. One of these issues is whether translation and interpreting can be reflected together in the same set of standards and to what extent this could possibly be achieved. This paper attempts to look at the process of standard drafting in Turkey followed by a review of the two acts with their overlapping and differing aspects by means of a descriptive and exploratory method.
