Abstract :
In this paper, the electrical and optical characteristics of an air-filled planary microelectronic gas discharge cell with a GaP cathode have been explored. The breakdown curves are found for different interelectrode distances (d = 45 μm, 90 μm, 143 μm, 240 μm, 323 μm, 445 μm ve 525 μm). The measurements are taken at different pressure rates from p = 28 Torr to 690 Torr. Thereby, the effect of cell pressure to the discharge current characteristics is investigated. In addition, the IR sensitivity of GaP and the hysteresis graphics are obtained. This work is important in this sense that GaP indicates both the direct band gap and indirect band gap behaviors.
