Role of Choral Training on Socializationo Primary School Students
Abstract :
Socialization is a lifetime learning period. In that period, individual accept the socio-cultural values of the society in order to adopt to the society, where he or she lives in. Socialization of individual starts in the family then continues at school. School together with the family is the most important institute which make the socialization of individual. Therefore, education provided at schools related to socialization of individual is very important. One of the easiest ways of helping socialization of individuals is to set up choirs. Having versatile education at choirs in a social environment and bringing in affection, respect, tolerance to students are emphasizing the necessity and importance of this education. Also choirs have great importance in terms of individual development, having communication with same sense to the surroundings, listening each other, singing together and having choral culture. As a result, individual socializes while having social education. This study is based on a class choir. The students in that class choir started their choral training at 1st grade and received this training for 4 years regularly. The aim of this study is to prove the contribution of choral training on socialization of students in that choir. In the direction of this aim, a survey is applied to the parents of students and an interview form are prepared to teacher of the class. Data derived from the survey and the interview form have been assesed and reviewed.
