Nation State and Interaction of Nationalism and Globalisation:Irreplaceable Nation-State, Rising Nationalism
Abstract :
It is aimed, in this study, to reveal the interaction of nation-state and nationalism with globalisation. In this study, benefiting from historical and descriptive research methods; historical development of nation-state, nationalism and globalisation is initially dwelled upon and then the study is concluded by focusing on the interaction between nation-state, nationalism and globalisation. It is revealed as the conclusion of the study that essential characteristics of nation-state is impoverished in many aspects during the course of globalisation and that nation-state is reshaped and nationalism is weakened in due course. Despite this, however, it is concluded that nationalism is an irreplaceable actor which is ascribed new roles and attributed new functions and qualities in order to ensure the presence and permanence of capital accumulation and that also nationalism is a rising ideology during globalisation
