Production and Marketing Problems of Cherry Farm in the Suluova District of Amasya Province
Abstract :
In this study, production and marketing problems of cherry producer farms located in Suluova district of Amasya province have been investigated. The data obtained through questionnaires conducted in 2011 and 2012 from 52 cherry producer farms have been analyzed in the study. The average land size of farms was 48.38 decare, plot number was 5.33 and size of plots was 9.08 decare. Cherry production is preferred due to the high profit. The main problems in cherry production are diseases, pests and insects. Wholesalers and brokers are mainly regulating the market for cherry. The producers prefer to wholesale and export. Agricultural Development Cooperative of Boyalı Village is very active in exporting the cherry. Important portion of produced cherry is being exported and the export price is higher.
