Abstract :
XIV. th century is the period when impor-tant changes and beginnings took place in Anatolia. There was a political handicap in Anatolia due to the falling period of Seljuk’s and Mogol invasions.Since the Mogol pressure had been lessened the Turkmen rulers set up many big and small communities. Besides these changes in history, XIV. th century was also an important period for the development of Turkish in Anatolia. In spite of the literature of Seljuk’s which was developed from Persian, the rulers of Anatolia were familiar with Turkısh.The rulers of Anatolia knew only Turkish, with that opportunity so many Turkish translations were made. The compilations and translations which were written in Turkish made a big contribution to the deve-lopment of Turkish in Anatolia and it became a language of literature. The most important literary works of XIV. th century are the mesnevis which took their subjects from Arabic and Persian literatures. Mesnevis are the literary works in story form which reflect the social and cultural life, political order, historical background, religions and daily life of the period in which they are written. The first mesnevi of Cemşîd u Hurşîd which was written by Ahmedî is the source of XVI. th century’s political order, social life, beliefs and cultural themes in Turkish literature. In this work we intend to see the political, social and cultural structure of XIV. th century with the help of Ahmedî’s mesnevi Cemşîd u Hurşîd which witnessed the period of rulers and the foun-dation days of Ottoman Empire.
