The Midilli Deportation of Müstecabizade İsmet and His Escaping Efforts
Abstract :
Müstecabizade İsmet who was an journalist, intellectual and men of letter in the Abdülhamit the Second and Constitutional Era supported Jön Türk movement like many intellectuals in these period punished by İstanbul Murder Court as ‚Kalabentlik‛ for three years in 1901. In the beginning Bodrum was chosen as a deportation place but this place was changed as Midilli later. Müstecabizade İsmet lived very comfortable life in Midilli and he wrote a ‚ariza‛ to represent Abdülhamit the Second because he thought that he was punished with untruthful denounce. His effforts was unsucsessful and he was released in 28 September 1904.
