Abstract :
The history of small tribe Karapapaks, sub-ethnic group of Kipchaks are directly connected with the territories of Caucasus, East Anadolu (Anatolia) and Iran where they had lived. They played the active role in every progress of this territory. That’s why studies on Karapapaks, their history have an enormous importance in researching Turkic history and explaining regional problems of nowadays in the best way.Population transfer of Karapapaks, their move to the very remote regions by force, various political repressions by the Caucasus and different states told on Karapapaks greatly. Besides, being excellent equestrians and soldiers, they were got hired on service in various armies by the governors of Ottoman Empire, Safavids and Kajars and even by Russians (they were made to battle against different nations, even Turkic states), and it was the main reason to make move away and repress them. Therefore, now Karapapaks live in different regions.Karapapaks, who were the main force of the states or the dynasties of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran Turks in different periods and who created the khanates as ‚Kazak-Şemşeddin‛ and ‚Borçalı Sultanate‛ now live in different 5 countries: Borçalı of Georgia, Kazak-Şemşeddin in Azerbaijan, in Sulduz of Iran, Kars-Ardahan-Iğdır of Turkey, and in the Southern Kazakhstan of the Republic of Kazakhstan.In the results of long-term researches, besides of primary and secondary sources about Karapapak Turks we have collected unachieved materials published in Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Iran. Also we achieved a new manuscript published in Iran. This article deals with the results collected from researches of different sources about history of Karapapaks and their national peculiarities.
