SOME DETERMINATIONS ON ŞEYH GALIB S ŞERH-I CEZİRE-I MESNEVI
Abstract :
The writer of Mesnevi-i Manevi Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi (d. 1273), influenced particularly Anatolian geography through the centuries. Mesnevi was required to be translated and annotated in Anatolia where Turkish is spoken, for the reason that Mevlana narrated his moral advices with imaginative stories and by using Persian language. Therefore many cognoscenti of science and Mevlevi sheikhs studied on translation and annotation of Mesnevi. One of these studies was written by Sinaneddin Yusuf-ı Sineçak (d. 1546) from Yenicevardar who was one of the Mevlevi sheikhs. Cezire-i Mesnevi of Sineçak which comprises tawhid oriented couplets selected from Mesnevi gained recognition among Mevlevi sheikhs. Moreover, many annotations were written for Cezire-i Mesnevi. The most celebrated annotation of Cezire-i Mesnevi was written by Şeyh Galib (d. 1799) and named his work as Şerh-i Cezire-i Mesnevi. However some sources which inform about Şerh-i Cezire-i Mesnevi make some mistakes about this work. In this article, the reason of these mistakes is tried to be determined and right information is confirmed.
