Sociodemographic characteristics of narcotic crimes in Turkey
Abstract :
Aim. The aims of this study were to evaluate cases and offenders between 1998-2005 in terms of ages, gender, frequency, over the years to changes in the evaluation, the data obtained in other countries and our country has been in previous studies to compare. Method. In this study, obtained from the Ministry of Justice between the years 1998-2005 in criminal court because of drug crimes and the defendant opened the proceedings with the data of 2007 the population of Turkey Statistics Institute data were used. In this context, collected data was evaluated by the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technology and evaluation results were presented by using mapping and display tools of GIS. Results. In this study, the data obtained according to the drug offender who the majority of the men, the number of defendants continuously increased the drug selling crime trade intensive, border areas, port cities and in major cities more intense as observed, use of crime is where tourism is often intense and more intense as observed in major cities have been identified. Conclusion. Fight against drug use needs to be the target of Turkey s coastal regions, while the smugglers in the border area needs to be highlighted struggle.
