Abstract
Lymphangiomas are the congenital malformations of the lymphatic system affecting mainly head and neck region. These congenital lesions are usualy seen in children younger than five years of age; occurrence in adults is uncommon. Ranula is sublingual gland retention cyst. It is usually seen in young adult patient group. A 18 year-old female patient presented with swelling of the neck. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings were considered to be due to plunging ranula, however, histopathologic examination revealed cystic lymphangioma. In this report, the radiological features of cystic lymphangioma and plunging ranula were compared along with the literature data.
