Abstract :
Aim. Psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin and joint disease. C-reactive protein, an indicator of inflammation, is elevated in the psoriasis patients and it is an important determinant that shows the risk in development of cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the severity of psoriasis with CRP and high sensitive CRP (hs-CRP) levels. Methods. 58 patients, with mild, moderate and severe plaque type psoriasis, who do not take systemic treatment, are included in this study. To determine the severity of illness, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) is used. CRP and high sensitive CRP values were determined in the blood samples taken from patients. Results. In this study, there was no correlation between CRP, high sensitive CRP levels and PASI scores of patients. Conclusion. In the plaque type psoriasis, we found no significant difference between CRP and high sensitive CRP by means of disease severity.
