Some behaviors a group of the womens related drug use: Is it rational?
Abstract :
Aim. This study was conducted to determine the behaviors of drug use of a group of women. Method. The 287 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Data was collected using face-to-face interview technique with questionnaire prepared by literature search. Data were evaluated with number, frequencies and chi-square by SPSS package 15.0 program.Results. It was found that 44.6 % of women were between the ages of 18 and 28 years, 67.9% were primary school graduated, 91.3% were married, almost all (95.8%) were housewives. Ninety-four point four percent of women had health coverage. It was identified that 30.3% of women in this study had a medicine that is needed to use continuously, 42.2% used drug frequently and the most used drug was analgesic. In the study it was found that 13.9% of women have bought their medicine without prescription, 40.4% haven‟t read the prescription, 12.5% haven‟t taken their medicine on the time, 24.7% have used the medicine which is good for someone else, 29.6% have offered medicine to someone else and majority of them haven‟t paid any attention to the shape, smell, color, expiration date and producing company of the medicine they have used. In study it was found that there is statistically significant difference between health insurance and taking the medicine with a prescription; reading with prescription and age and education; taking medicine on the time and education and ongoing drug use; drug accumulation at home marital and status and health insurance.(p=0.001). Conclusions. It was concluded that behaviors of the rational drug use among participants is inadequate and they need to be informed about this matter by healthcare personnel.
