Physicochemical characterization of strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo L.) genotypes naturally growing in Düzce and Zonguldak province

Abstract
The studies have revealed the importance of strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo L.) fruits on human health and nutrition, and hence, It has taken its place among the popular fruit species. In this study was conducted the physicochemical characterization of strawberry tree genotype fruits naturally growing in Alapli with Kilimli district of Zonguldak and Akcakoca district of Düzce. In the study, fruit weight, fruit width, fruit height and shape index of strawberry tree ranged from 3.39 to 7.25 g, 17.75 to 23.18 mm, 17.57 to 23.18 mm, 0.95 to 1.14, respectively. Looking at TSS and acidity of investigated genotypes, it was determined that the 81A09 genotype had the highest TSS (25.50%) and 67K03 genotype had the highest acidity (1.15%). The study was also determined fruit shape, fruit color, fruit taste, stony, juiciness, appearance and other quality parameters such as roughness. In the study were determined differences P≤0.05 significance level in terms of biochemical and physical properties of the fruit of the strawberry genotypes. In the study, 67A01, 81A01, 67K03, 67K04, 67K06 and 67A09 genotypes were determined to be more promising than other genotypes.
