Title Of Article :
AN APPROACH OF PRODUCTION SMOOTHING FOR PRODUCTION SCHEDULING AND SEQUENCING IN MIXED-MODEL ASSEMBLY LINES
Abstract :
Mixed model assembly line can adapt to the varied small size batch production, by keeping of minimum inventory despite of product diversity and ability of quick response to the abrupt change of demand. Due to the mentioned attributes of mixed model assembly line, waiting/ accumulations are in question. In this study, the production smoothing model is presented for solving this problem. The smoothing production aims to reduce the size of batches and streamline the flow of products/ parts/ raw In this study, the solution of models that response to demand for certain time at “just in time” according to the JIT approach and “no stock” according to the Lean philosophy in mixed model assemble line in automotive firm. The problem is handled for 50 products with two approaches as scheduling and sequencing. In scheduling stage, three solving methods are presented and alternative solutions are obtained for balanced production desired by the firm and considering constraints. These solutions are compared with several criteria. In sequencing stage, the work sequence of automobile models in assemble line is determined with modified Goal Chasing method.
