  • Abstract
Fibroepithelial polyps of the urinary tract are rare, benign, non-epithelial tumors. They may involve the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder or urethra. They are composed of a stroma derived from mesoderm and covered by a layer of normal transitional epithelial cells. In contrast to tumors of epithelial origin, malignant de generation of fibroepithelial polyps has not been reported. Fibroepithelial polyps can cause urinary obstruction with the most common presenting symptom being ipsilateral flank pain with or without hematuria. We report a 23-year-old woman who presented to our clinic with bilateral flank pain and macroscopic hematuria.
