Abstract :
Cognitive radio is a promising technology that uses radio spectrum opportunistically and efficiently. In this paper, we propose a scheme that enhances the cognitive source’s data transmission by combination underlay and interweave approaches, and we analyze the outage probability of cognitive transmission under spectrum sensing overhead and interference constraints and over Rayleigh fading channels. A closed-form of outage probability for the proposed scheme is derived. Computer simulations show that the reduction of outage probability can be achieved when spectrum sensing overhead is near 0 or 1, and the performance system increases both as interference constraints increase and when the bandwidth is heavily used by primary source.
