Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed at defining which problems are faced by teachers during carrying out project-based teaching practices in the learning-teaching processes, and preparing an action-plan to resolve these problems. To do this, it had been worked together with the teachers, managers, and randomly selected students and their parents in a private primary school in Istanbul for seven months. Data of the research were collected via a series of interviews with the focus groups, observations and written documents. These data were analyzed by open coding technique. It was found that the biggest problems faced by the teachers when carrying out the project-based teaching practices were met because of some problematic conditions in the learning-teaching processes, the physical conditions and the parents’ attitudes, and some affective factors. After the analyses of these problems, the researchers created and then carried out an action plan to enable the teachers to perform their projects properly. At the end of the research, it was seen that the teachers are more successful in overcoming the problems they faced in their project-based teaching practices, the teachers and the parents were more effective during their mentoring processes with the students, and the resulting projects were more satisfactory academically for both the students and the teachers.
