OPTIMIZATION OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS BY USING TAGUCHI METHOD IN MILLING OF TI-6AL-4V SUPER- ALLOY AT HIGHPRESSURE COOLİNG CONDITIONS
Abstract :
In this study, effects of cutting parameters on surface roughness during the milling of the super alloy, Ti-6Al- 4V, using highly-pressurized cooling have been investigated and the optimum processing conditions have been detected. Cutting speed, feeding rate, cooling fluid pressure value have been expressed at four different levels and the experimental design has been achieved by Taguchi L16 orthogonal sequence. At the end of the experiments, variance analysis (ANOVA) was performed for the surface roughness values obtained based on the cutting parameters and the effect of experimental parameters on surface roughness has been investigated. Moreover, optimum cutting conditions have been defined for minimum surface roughness, depending on signal/noise (S/N) ration, using the Taguchi optimization method. Finally, it was detected that the optimization was applied successfully, by performing verification experiment under optimum experimental conditions.
