    THE SIMULATION OF DIFFERENT RUNNER TYPE AND VACUUM APPLICATION IN HIGH PRESSURE DIE CASTING PROCESS

  • Abstract
    In this study, casting simulation processes in high pressure die casting by depending upon runner design and vacuum application are performed in order to reach optimal products. Therefore, as convenient to the geometry of the injection product, runner and vacuum evacuation system design are also carried out. In addition, by using Vulcan simulation software, solidification analysis, filling analysis, heat distribution, front meeting points and last air amount are simulated as well as simulations of macro-micro porosities. As a result of simulation outcomes, runner and vacuum evacuation mechanism are updated. Moreover, simulation outcomes for two different runner and vacuum releases are evaluated and compared with each other. Simulation results show that runner design and vacuum application affect the quality of the injection product in the high-pressure die casting process. It is seen that macro and micro porosity, filling time and flow velocity are decreased depending on the runner design and vacuum application. By the way of this type simulation given in this study, defective material productions at the time of casting processes and inaccurate mold design will be prevented. Furthermore, Production costs will be able to decrease.
