Abstract :
Dispute being non-profit organizations, it is possible to say that there is a competition among museums on gaining the highest share in the visitor markets. Understanding visitors’ museum experience expectations is very important for success of marketing activities. In this study, visitors’ museum experience expectations investigated in the sample of foreign visitors to Ephesus Archaeological Site. For this purpose, a survey type research was implemented. 295 foreign visitors to Ephesus Archaeological Site participated to the survey. Findings of the study indicated th at gender of respondents distributes equally. In addition to that, it was indicated 37 percent of participants are above age of 50. 35 percent of respondents reported that they have visited Turkey previously. Also, it was found that internet is most used information source before the trip. Findings showed that museum experience expectations of foreign visitors can be examined in four dimensions as; personal identification, historical reminiscences, cultural entertainment and escape. Significant differences were found in the dimensions of museum experience expectations according to visitors; age, marital status and employment. Study ends with some suggestions on museum management.
