THE CHANGE IN INTELLECTUAL STRUCTURE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT LITERATURE: A BIBLIOMETRIC EVALUATION BETWEEN 2001-2013
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to identify the studies and authors having made the greatest impact on strategic management research and to display intellectual milestones in this particular discipline of strategic management. The methodology is based on the bibliometric techniques of citation and co-citation analysis applied to 811 research articles published in the Strategic Management Journal between 2001 and 2013. Additionally, the study intends to identify the most influential papers and authors by providing visual mapping of intellectual structure. The findings demonstrate that publications which have adopted resource-based view are more widely cited instead of earlier Position School thoughts that had notable contribution to the scientification process of strategic management discipline. As another outcome, the publications dated after 1990 on knowledge, innovation and learning have recently been regarded as the influential works.
