Abstract :
Objective: This descriptive study was carried out to examine healthy lifestyle behaviors andtime-management skills, the relationship between them, and factors affected them of nursing students.Methods: The population of the study was consist of nursing students (N:773) studing in the faculty of nursing of a university in 2013-2014 academic year. Sample was not selected in the study and students in all population were included, as a result 501 students who agree to participate in the study were consisted the sample. Students Identification Form, Healthy Life Style Behaviors II Scale (HLSB II S) and Time Management Inventory (SSI) was used in the collection of the data. Healthy Lifestyle Scale II, is a Likert-type scale and the scale score range between 52-208. Healthy Life Style Behaviors II Scale consists of six subscales: Health Responsibility, Physical Activity, Nutrition subscale, Spiritual development, Interpersonal relations and Stress management. It is accepted that as total score increases, students also have a more healthy lifestyle behaviors. Time management inventory is an inventory is a five point Likert-type scale and scores range between 27-135 and consists of three subscales: time planning, time attitudes, and time spent. When the score of scale of the students is higher, it is considered that they manage their time well, and they thinking about everything in a long interval. Data were analyzed by using t test, Kruskai-Wallis test, correlation and analysis of variance. The institution s ethics committee approval and formal permission from the institution was obtained for conducting the study.Results: It was determined that most (60.1%) of the students was found that they does not participate to the social activities, 82.2% of them that does not attendant to any course or seminar related to the time management. The mean subscale score Health Responsibility of Healthy LifeStyle Behaviors II Scale was found as 21.44 ± 4.02, the mean subscale score Physical activity wassubscale mean score 18.12 ± 4.85, The mean subscale score Nutrition subscale was 20.25 ± 3.73, the mean subscale score Spiritual development was 25.46 ± 4.09, the mean subscale score Interpersonal relations was 25.10 ± 3.91, the mean subscale score Stress management was 9.21± 3.61. The mean subscale score Time Planning of Time Management Inventory was found as48, 11+ 9,21, the mean subscale score time attitudes was found as 22, 19±3.5 the mean subscale score time spent was found as 13,27±2.65. A positive and low level significant relationship was found between the average total score of Healthy Life Style Behaviors IIScale and the average total score of TimeManagement Inventory.Conclusion: As a result, it can be concluded that healthy lifestyle behaviors and time management skills of nursing students were in moderate level and when healthy lifestyle behaviors of students were increases, the time management skills of them has been increased.
