Abstract :
The history of colonialism and the political and cultural formations that have emerged in various geographies in the postcolonial period remain historical facts that have directly affected the emergence of certain contemporary literary and critical approaches. Raised mostly in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, postcolonial authors have used such themes as identity, in-betweenness and legacy of colonial period, the themes mostly dealt with by postcolonial literature, as the main elements of their works. One of the prominent figures of the postcolonial period, Abdulrazak Gurnah examines similar issues at a fictional level with his Desertion.
