Abstract :
The sociological entity, the human being and therefore the artists, has directed the processes of creation in art history with the pain and worries created by both social and personal crises. In the art which is accepted as the subjective reflection of the objective world, the artist reflects the reflection of the society on his work according to his own opinions and attitudes. Man s psychological structure and his spiritual actions are influential in his artistic creation. For this reason, Francisco Goya, a prominent Spanish artist who lived in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, profoundly influenced the history of art in this research and evaluated the symbolic aspects of the works and works of his work. The mysterious atmosphere reminiscent of a horrific dream in the artist s work, and the images of painful writhing with fearful facial expressions constitute the main problem of this work. In order to be able to do this research, the sources were firstly searched, the writings written in the previous years about the artist were examined, the works related to the topic were determined and the original works were examined. The artist, who has studied the events of the present age with a human sensitivity, has integrated these with his own aesthetic and cultural experiences. The artist who made the testimony of the age presents the spectacle behind the palace life, the wars, the absurdities continued under the tradition, and the nightmares that all these created the painters and the symbolic imagery on them. This symbolic imagery awakens the public by showing the wrongs on the road to the Spanish people.
