Selection of Native Almonds (Prunus amygdalus L.) Growing in Derik (Mardin) District

In this study carried out in 2004 and 2005 years, 70 almond types were labelled in Derik district. Flowering dates and the fruit properties of these types were determined. According to the observations and the evaluations made on the types, they were subjected to weighted ranked method depend on the certain selection criteria. As a result of the study, 13 promising almond types having the higher scores were selected. Kernel ratio, kernel weight and fruit weight with shell of the selected types were ranged from 21.32±6.72 to 66.89±31.47 %, from 0.78±0.08 to 1.17±0.21 g, from 1.75±0.36 to 4.7±0.13 g, respectively. In addition, double kernel ratio in the selected types were not found.
