Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyse the beginning methods commonly used in violoncello education in the faculties of education, departments of music education, and to determine the differences and similarities between these methods by making a comparative analysis. Population of the study includes the departments of music education in the education faculties in Turkey. Sample group consists of the instructors filling questionnaires in the departments of music education of ten universities. In this study screening model was used and acquired data was analyzed by the content analysis and the comparative analysis methods. As a result of the study, it is determined that the beginning methods commonly used in violoncello education in the faculty of education, departments of music education are Friedrich Dotzauer, Sebastian Lee, and Joseph Werner. It is pointed out that methods have similarities and differences in terms of teaching methods and techniques.
