Abstract :
During the period up to the Reform (Islahat) Edict in the Ottoman Empire, since bell ringing in the churches was forbidden, bell towers could not be built in the churches until that time. In the middle of the 19^th century, as a result of the conditions provided by Tanzimat and Reform Edicts, the ban was removed and bell towers were constructed for some churches as additional structural parts. Bell towers of 19^th century Greek churches located in the Middle and the East Black Sea Region were constructed as either separate or adjacent to the church building. The bell towers of the 19^th century Greek Orthodox churches located at the capital city of that time and built later as additional structural parts are either separate or adjacent to the church building. These bell towers which are fully or partially attained to date and which are assumed to have been existed considering the related ruins will be evaluated and compared with that of the ones located in the capital and other states.
