Abstract :
In this article, it’s tried to determine whether the word of sabi, a Quranic concept, has any similarity in terms of content with the word of sabii, used as a name of religion. Despite the fact that the notion of sabi which takes place three times in Quran, is used ratherly as an adjective means apostasy, it was alleged that the Word of sabii is a name of religion used firstly about Mandaeans, then the pagan people of Harran. During this study, it’s occured that there is no similarity between the sabi, the Quranic concept and sabie (Sabians), a name of religion and that’s an artifical calling. For, the notion of sabi is Arabic, and at that period it was used for the apostate people. However, the word of sabii, was used as a name of Mandaeans and the religion Harran people at Islamic period.
