Abstract :
Purpose of this study is to understand whether burnout levels of academicians change or not according to some of their socio-demographic characteristics. For this reason, 302 questionnaires were applied to academicians from the faculties of Agriculture, Engineering, Theology, Economic and Administrative Sciences in Harran University in 2008-2009 educational year. 174 of the questionnaires were included in evaluation. In data collection process, personal information form was used in addition to Maslach Burnout Inventory. According to research findings academic title and economic satisfaction from the job don’t affect the burnout level. On the other hand in dimensions emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, academicians whose lengths of service are under ten years feel burnout more than academicians whose lengths of service are between 11 to 20 years and 21 and above. And also it was found that academicians who choose their job by their own wishes feel lower burnout.
