Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to develop an ESL writing self-efficacy scale for measuring foreigner students’ writing self-efficacy beliefs. Study group consisted of 156 students who were learning Turkish at Ankara University TÖMER and Gazi University TÖMER in Ankara. In the first phase of data analysis, item discrimination index was examined for all items in the in the pool. Independent samples t-test results showed that all items could discriminate %27 high and low score groups (for all items p ,001). In the second phase of data analysis exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed. After analysis a scale with 2 factors and 16 items emerged. These two factors explained %56,85 of total variance . Items factor loadings ranged between ,610 and ,832. Cronbach Alfa reliability coefficients were computed for first subscale as 0,93; for second subscale as 0,74; and for whole scale as 0,92.
