Abstract :
This research aims to find out the perception and the ideas of the elementary school teachers teaching physical education lessons about the lessons and performing the educational games. During the research, a questionnaire was implemented as an instrument to gather data. Analyses of frequency, percentage ratio, chi-square and t-tests were made in SPSS software and level of significance was determined as 0,05. While 22,5 percent of the elementary school teachers stated that they were involved in sports actively before or after becoming a teacher, 77,5 percent of them stated that they had never been involved in a sport actively. The high number of male teachers who are involved in sports actively compared to female ones shows that there is a statistically significant difference in the 0,05 level. Again the high number of male teachers who are interested in sports as a spectator or for health reasons when compared with female ones shows that there is a significant difference in the 0,,5 level Moreover, the female teachers when compared with male teachers felt that they were inadequate in terms of teaching educational games and formation level. This shows that there is a statistically significant difference (P 0,05). In terms of teaching educational games and formation level, there is a significant difference in the 0,05 level between elementary school teachers who are involved in sports actively before being a teacher when compared with teachers who are not involved in a sports and this difference is in favour of teachers involved in sports actively (P 0,05).In terms of teaching educational games and formation level, elementary school teachers who were involved in sports actively or as a spectator or for health reasons when compared to teachers who weren’t, involved felt that they were adequate. This shows that there is a statistically significant difference (P 0,05). As a result, it is found out that elementary school teachers feel that they are adequate in terms of formation level when applying educational games. The male teachers feel that they are more adequate than the female ones about the topic. Moreover, it is also found out that the teachers, who are involved in sports actively or interested in sports in a way, think that they feel more adequate and it is seen that their approach to applying educational games is more positive.
