Abstract
Efficiency of railguns will ultimately determine the scale of their use since it determines the size of the power source. Equations are derived for the losses and efficiencies of breech supplied, segmented and distributed energy store guns and evaluated for a 5 gram mass accelerated to 10 km/s under various conditions. Constant current is assumed.
