Abstract :
Soft magnetic SiFe sheets are generally used in the shape of laminated cores, for example in transformers, motors, etc. Nevertheless, most recent investigations concerning the magnetic properties were carried out on single specimens, neglecting magnetic coupling between stacked sheets due to stray fields with a vertical component. Results are presented concerning the influence of vertical magnetic fields on the domain structure and the local stray field are presented. It is found that the stray field behaviour and the domain structure are affected unfavorably by vertical fields with respect to shielding, flux losses and losses of transformer cores
